Skoda unveils flagship Peaq EV with up to 647km range

Skoda has revealed the Peaq as its global flagship model, positioned to rival full-size electric SUVs such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90. The carmaker is also evaluating the Peaq for the Indian market. Skoda’s current pure-electric portfolio comprises the Epiq, Elroq and Enyaq, none of which is sold in the country.

Top-spec 90x variant with 91kWh battery and AWD system produces 299hp

The Skoda Peaq EV will be sold in three variants internationally: 60, 90 and 90x. The 60 comes with a 63kWh battery paired with a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels (RWD). This setup produces 204hp, and the claimed range is 459km. The 90 features a larger 91kWh battery, offers a claimed range of 647km and uses a more powerful single-motor RWD setup delivering 286hp. At the top of the range, the 90x pairs the same 91kWh battery with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, producing 299hp and offering a claimed range of 613km.

Performance improves progressively across the range. The 90x is the quickest, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.7 seconds, followed by the 90 at 7.1 seconds and the 60 at 8.6 seconds.

Using a 199kW DC fast charger, a 10-80 percent top-up can be achieved in 28 minutes for the 91kWh battery, whereas the same takes 27 minutes for the 63kWh unit plugged into a 160kW DC charger.

The nearly 4.9-metre-long EV adopts Skoda’s Modern Solid design language

The Peaq is the second Skoda EV to follow the manufacturer’s latest Modern Solid design language. The first was the Epiq, revealed in May 2026. There’s a gloss-black ‘Tech Deck’ face featuring vertical slats and LED lighting. The SUV also gets T-shaped Matrix LED headlights and eyebrow-shaped daytime running lamps (DRLs). As with other EVs, the grille is blanked off, and the bumper features functional air vents to cool the EV’s internals.

In profile, the eSUV gets 19- to 21-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and powered flush-type door handles. The design here is simple, with a flat beltline and no prominent creases. A gloss-black strip runs along the wheel arches and the lower section of the body. At the rear, it gets slim T-shaped LED tail-lights that mimic the headlight design, a chiselled bumper with a black lower portion and a roof-mounted spoiler that helps improve aerodynamics.

With the last row of seats folded, the Skoda Peaq offers 935 litres of boot space, claimed to be the largest of any Skoda model.

Two digital screens, bidirectional charging, a digital key, 10 airbags and a lot more

The Skoda Peaq gets a dual-tone dashboard housing a 13.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver’s display and a heated two-spoke steering wheel with the brand wordmark. While most functions are controlled through the touchscreen infotainment system, the Peaq retains a few physical buttons on the centre console, which is split into two sections. The upper section has lock/unlock, hazard and volume controls, while the lower section features three climate toggles. The outer toggles adjust temperature, while the central one controls fan speed.

There’s also a 16-speaker Sonos sound system, dual wireless phone chargers, a panoramic sunroof and USB charging ports on all three rows. The Peaq also supports bidirectional charging, which helps it power electrical appliances and even a home grid. It is the first Skoda car to offer a digital key feature, enabling locking and unlocking via a smartphone or a smartwatch.

An augmented reality (AR)-based head-up display (HUD) is available as an optional extra. For enhanced comfort, the Peaq also comes with an optional Relax Package that equips it with AGR-certified seats with massage function, power-adjustable leg rests, front-seat pillows and a foldable table, as well as an integrated wellness app with six dedicated modes, including relaxation, stretching and re-energising.

On the safety front, Skoda has equipped the Peaq with 10 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite and auto park assist. In a first for a Skoda, the washers are integrated with the wipers.

Skoda Peaq EV India launch details

Could come to India via the CBU route

Skoda is actively evaluating the possibility of bringing the Peaq to India. Speaking about the brand’s plans, Ashish Gupta, brand director for Skoda Auto India, had previously told Autocar India, “Yes, it’s on my radar. We have to look at the specifications of the car, and we need to bring in a premium car, not a bare-bones car at a high price. So that is what we are working on. My ambition is to have our global portfolio in India next year.”

While there is no confirmed timeline for the Peaq’s India launch, Skoda could introduce it as a CBU (completely built unit) import. If the eSUV makes its way to India, it would serve as an alternative to the Kia EV9, which is currently priced at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). In the UK, the Skoda Peaq’s prices start at GBP 51,980, which amounts to approximately Rs 64.95 lakh before taxes and duties.
