Skoda Octavia RS second batch launched at Rs 56.69 lakh

Skoda has launched the second batch of the Octavia RS in India at Rs 56.69 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 6.70 lakh more expensive than the first batch, which was priced at Rs 49.99 lakh. The previous batch was limited to 100 units and sold out ahead of its India launch last year. The second batch is limited to just 50 units, with deliveries set to begin next week.

Skoda Octavia RS: Powertrain and performance

The Octavia RS gets the Volkswagen Group’s EA888 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which also powers the Golf GTI. In the Octavia RS, it produces 265hp and 370Nm and is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, with power sent to the front wheels. Skoda claims a 0-100kph time of 6.4sec, while top speed is electronically limited to 250kph.

The RS also gets progressive steering, sports suspension, an advanced chassis setup and a sports exhaust system as standard.

Skoda Octavia RS: Exterior

The Octavia RS has Matrix LED headlights, LED tail-lights with dynamic indicators, glossy black exterior elements and 19-inch alloy wheels. It also gets RS-specific styling details, including a sportier front and a black-finished treatment at the rear. The second batch of the Octavia RS is available in Mamba Green, Velvet Red and Magic Black colour options.

The Octavia retains its liftback boot, with 600 litres of luggage space, which can be expanded to 1,555 litres with the rear seats folded. The car is 4,709mm long, 1,829mm wide and 1,457mm tall, while its wheelbase measures 2,677mm.

Skoda Octavia RS: Interior and features

The RS gets sports seats with black upholstery and contrasting red elements; the front seats are electrically adjustable and come with memory, heating and massage functions. The cabin also has ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other features include three-zone climate control, wireless charging and an 11-speaker Canton sound system with a subwoofer. The boot is electrically operated. Safety and driver-assistance features include 10 airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, intelligent park assist, a 360-degree Area View camera and a head-up display.
