Honda has launched the Rebel 300 in India at Rs 2.22 lakh for the Standard variant and Rs 2.62 lakh for the E-Clutch variant (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The new bobber-style cruiser is manufactured in India and will be sold exclusively through Honda BigWing dealerships.
The Rebel 300 is powered by a 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 30hp and 27.5Nm, earlier seen on the CB300R. This mill is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, common to both the Standard and E-Clutch variants.
The E-Clutch version adds electronic actuators that operate the clutch automatically, allowing the rider to shift gears without using the clutch lever. The clutch can still be operated manually when required and can be configured via the TFT dash.
The Rebel 300 uses a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. It rides on 16-inch wheels, with a 130-section front tyre with a chunky 90-section profile, while the rear gets a wider 150-section tyre with an 80-section profile.
The Rebel 300 has a low-slung bobber design with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a round LED headlamp, a two-piece seat and a short exhaust. Its low seat height, upright handlebar and forward-set foot pegs give it a relaxed riding position.
The motorcycle gets a circular TFT instrument display with Honda RoadSync connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Other features include LED lighting and dual-channel ABS.
At Rs 2.22 lakh, the Rebel 300 Standard undercuts the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350, which is priced between Rs 2.25 lakh and Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The E-Clutch variant, at Rs 2.62 lakh, is Rs 34,000-37,000 more expensive than the Goan Classic 350.
