Tata reveals updated Tiago, Tiago EV ahead of May 28 launch

Share

Tata has revealed the updated Tiago and Tiago EV while confirming that the hatchbacks will launch on May 28, 2026. The carmaker has thoroughly revised the exterior designs, giving the models a bolder look.

  1. New headlights, tail-lights and alloy designs
  2. 360-degree camera confirmed as a new feature
  3. New instrument cluster and 6 airbags as standard are likely

Tata Tiago, Tiago EV facelifts: What to expect?

Both hatchback versions get revised fascia and redesigned lighting elements

The facelifted versions of both hatchbacks feature bolder headlights with eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). While the ICE version gets a black grille akin to the bigger Altroz, the EV has a body-coloured blanked-off grille. The bumper is also new, with the ICE model getting pixel-shaped fog lamps, which the EV misses out on.

Coming to the profile, both get redesigned wheel designs, although the rim sizes are expected to be unchanged (15 inches for the ICE and 14 inches for the EV). The black wheel arches are similar to those of the current Tiago NRG. Tata has also updated the tail-lights with multiple vertical LED strips, connected by a chunky bar, similar to other newer Tata models. The rear bumpers are also new, but are similar on both models.

360-degree camera confirmed, new instrument cluster expected

The reveal video shows camera pods on the front bumper and under the outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), confirming a new 360-degree camera setup – a first for both the Tiago and Tiago EV. With the 2025 model year update, Tata thoroughly revised the models’ cabins, with a redesigned dashboard featuring a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. However, the instrument cluster looked outdated, so the manufacturer is likely to update it with this facelift to provide a more modern feel.

Other features are expected to be the same, including automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control, automatic climate control, a cooled glove box and a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS). However, instead of the 2 airbags currently available, the facelifted Tiago models could come with 6 airbags as standard.

Facelifted EV could get larger batteries, but ICE’s facelift could get the same engine

Current Tiago’s 1.2-litre petrol engine shown for representation purposes only.

The facelifted combustion-powered Tiago is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 86hp and 113Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The CNG option for the same engine, which produces 75.5hp and 96.5Nm, is also expected to be offered.

Currently, the Tata Tiago EV is available with two battery pack choices: a 19.2kWh version paired with a 61hp, 110Nm motor and a larger 24kWh option with a 75hp, 114Nm motor. The claimed range for the 19.2kWh and 24kWh batteries is 223km and 293km, respectively. Chances are that the upcoming EV will get slightly larger batteries for a higher claimed range, as the manufacturer did with the Punch EV.

With the facelift, the prices are expected to be slightly revised. Currently, the Tiago ICE costs Rs 4.60 lakh to Rs 7.68 lakh, while the Tiago EV is priced from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 11.14 lakh. As with the Punch EV, Tata may offer the Tiago’s electric version with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) scheme, lowering the upfront cost for buyers. The Tiago EV will continue to lock horns with the Citroen eC3 and MG Comet EV

Prices are ex-showroom, India.
