Ferrari reveals one-off HC25 based on F8 Spider

Share

Ferrari has unveiled the HC25, a one-off Special Projects model based on the F8 Spider. Revealed at Ferrari Racing Days at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, the HC25 has been commissioned for a single client and developed by Ferrari Design Studio under the direction of chief design officer Flavio Manzoni.

The brand says the HC25 reinterprets its traditional mid-engined V8 spider design language while also previewing styling themes seen on newer models such as the F80 and 12Cilindri.

  1. HC25 features slimmer headlamps and vertical DRLs
  2. Its twin-turbo V8 with rear-wheel drive produces 720hp and 770Nm
  3. Claimed 0-100kph time is 2.9 seconds and top speed is 340kph

Ferrari HC25 exterior design

While based on the F8 Spider’s chassis and powertrain, the HC25 has completely redesigned bodywork with a more geometric and angular design language. Ferrari says the car was designed to bridge the visual gap between the F8 Spider and its newer flagship models.

One of the most distinctive elements is the gloss-black band around the midsection and engine cover. Ferrari says this three-dimensional section integrates the radiator intakes and powertrain heat extraction systems while visually separating the car’s front and rear halves.

The side profile is shaped around an arrow-like design theme, with the black band sweeping from the rear haunches towards the front doors before merging into the rear screen. The door handles are integrated into a long aluminium blade running across the bodywork.

The HC25 also debuts slimmer bespoke headlamps with vertically arranged boomerang-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) – the first time Ferrari has used a vertical DRL layout on a road car. At the rear, the HC25 gets slim tail-lamps, a redesigned diffuser and twin trapezoidal exhaust outlets.

The one-off Ferrari is finished in a matte Moonlight Grey paint shade and rides on bespoke five-spoke alloy wheels with diamond-finished outer rims.

Ferrari HC25 interior

Inside, the HC25 retains the F8 Spider’s overall layout but receives a grey-and-yellow colour theme. Ferrari says the yellow accents used across the seats, dashboard and stitching are inspired by the Ferrari logo and brake calipers. The cabin is finished in a mix of leather and fabric upholstery, while the boomerang-shaped graphics mirror the DRLs’ design.

Ferrari HC25 engine and performance

The HC25 continues with the F8 Spider’s 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 720hp and 770Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Ferrari claims a 0-100kph time of 2.9 seconds, a 0-200kph time of 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 340kph. The HC25 is also significant because it is based on the F8 Spider platform, which was Ferrari’s last mid-engined open-top model to use a non-hybrid twin-turbo V8.

The HC25 is part of the Special Projects programme, under which Ferrari uses its existing platforms as a base to develop one-off models tailored for individual clients. Previous projects have included the SP48 Unica, SP51, SP-8 and KC23. Ferrari has not disclosed the price of the HC25.
