BMW India has opened pre-launch bookings for the new X6 M60i xDrive ahead of its India launch expected in the coming months. The nameplate returns to the Indian market after being discontinued in January 2023 and will arrive as a CBU (completely built unit) model. Customers can place bookings through BMW dealerships or via the company’s official website.
The X6 M60i xDrive is powered by BMW’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and xDrive all-wheel drive.
The X6 M60i comes with BMW’s coupe-SUV body style, combining a sloping roofline with SUV proportions. At the front, it gets a gloss-black kidney grille with vertical slats, slim LED headlights with ‘snake-eye’ DRL signatures and large air intakes integrated into the bumper.
In profile, the SUV rides on 21-inch alloy wheels, with red brake calipers, black-finished outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) and side skirts providing contrast. At the rear, the X6 gets wraparound LED tail-lights and a gloss-black bumper with twin exhaust outlets.
The X6 M60i is 4,960mm long, 2,004mm wide and 1,700mm high and offers 580 litres of boot space. It has a 2,975mm wheelbase and 216mm ground clearance.
The international-spec X6 M60i gets a dual-tone cabin with a layered dashboard design and BMW’s curved dual-screen setup featuring a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
Other features include powered, heated and ventilated front seats, memory function for the driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite. The India-spec version is expected to be similarly equipped.
Powering the X6 M60i is BMW’s ‘S68’ 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, with a total system output of 523hp and 750Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive AWD system. BMW claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 4.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250kph.
The X6 M60i also gets rear-wheel steering, an electronically controlled rear differential and M Sport brakes with four-piston front and single-piston rear calipers.
BMW has not yet announced prices for the X6 M60i xDrive in India, although the coupe-SUV is expected to cost around Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom). The X6 M60i will rival the Audi SQ8, Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe and Porsche Cayenne Coupe in our market.
