Mini India has launched the Cooper Oxford Edition in India at an asking price of Rs 55.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The special-edition 3-door hatchback celebrates a quarter-century of modern Mini production at the BMW Group’s Oxford plant. As such, the Cooper Oxford Edition sports lots of design touches inspired by the Union Jack. Pre-bookings for the Cooper Oxford Edition commenced on 8 October, and it’s available in limited quantities; deliveries start immediately.
The Cooper Oxford Edition is available in two exterior finishes, Indigo Sunset Blue or Chilli Red, with a full-size Union Jack roof decal applied as standard. A red-and-white stripe extends from the grille to the bootlid, while the ORVM housings are finished in white. Mini also equips this special edition with a set of unique 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which have blue-and-red centre caps, along with an exclusive crossed-flags sticker on the bootlid.
Inside, the dashboard layout remains unchanged from the standard Cooper’s, sporting a grey-beige colour scheme. There are some differentiators, though, such as black JCW-spec seats, a textured flag print on the base of the steering wheel, Union Jack logos on the floor mats and steering wheel, blue-and-red ‘Oxford’ door sills, and a Union Jack theme for the 9.4-inch circular infotainment touchscreen. The key fob also features a Union Jack design.
Under the bonnet, the Cooper Oxford Edition retains the standard model’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol motor, developing 204hp and 300Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic sending power to the front wheels, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.6 seconds and a rated fuel efficiency of 16.82kpl.
