Honda has issued a recall for the Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025. The company believes the handle-lock fixing nut on the bikes built in this period may not have been tightened to the correct specification during assembly. In some cases, this may result in the screw becoming loose, which could affect steering movement. Honda says as of 30 September 2026, no related incidents have been reported in India.
The Indian recall campaign is part of a global one. The Japanese manufacturer sold 96 Rebel 500s manufactured during that period in India. Although no related incidents have been reported in the country, as a precautionary measure, the company will replace the handle-lock screw on all affected motorcycles for free, irrespective of warranty status.
The campaign will begin on November 1, 2026, at authorised Honda BigWing dealerships. Representatives will reach out to customers via phone/SMS/email to inform them about the campaign and schedule the replacement. Any Rebel 500 owner who wants to be sure about their motorcycle can do so by entering their vehicle identification number (VIN) in the recall campaign section on Honda’s website. If they own an affected motorcycle, Honda encourages them to approach their nearest BigWing dealership and schedule an appointment.
