Benelli has launched the TRK 552 and TRK 552X. The road-biased 552 is priced at Rs 7.22 lakh, whereas the slightly more off-road-capable 552X is priced at Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the new motorcycles are now open through authorised Benelli Keeway dealerships.

  1. Uses a new 554cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine
  2. Carries forward the design and feature set from the TRK 502 range

Benelli TRK 552 and TRK 552 X details

The new engine produces 51.2hp and 49Nm of torque

This new-generation TRK range uses a larger 552cc twin-cylinder motor, replacing the previous 499.6cc engine. This mill produces 51.2hp at 8,500 rpm and 49 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. These motorcycles feature a 5-inch TFT display with offline maps, smartphone connectivity, heated grips, a heated rider’s seat and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as standard.

Interestingly, both motorcycles have the same 235kg kerb weight, which is on the heavier side compared with rivals such as the Honda NX500 E-Clutch (199kg) and Kawasaki Versys 650 (220kg). To match their adventure-touring intent, these bikes come equipped with a decent 20-litre fuel tank. However, ground clearance and seat height differ – 190mm and 835mm for the TRK 552  and 210mm and 860mm for the TRK 552X, respectively – despite both using the same suspension hardware.

While the motorcycles share their powertrains and chassis packages, their cycle parts are different. The road-biased TRK 552 gets a 17-inch alloy wheel setup, whereas the off-road-focused 552X features a 19/17 (F/R) wheel setup with cross-spoke wheels. The TRK 552 gets a 120-section front and a 160-section rear tyre from Pirelli, while the TRK 552X features a 110-section front and a 150-section rear tyre from Metzeler.

Currently, the Benelli TRK 552 is available in two colourways of black and white and will set you back by Rs 7.22 lakh. The TRK 552X is offered in white and green, and it retails at Rs 7.74 lakh. Additionally, there’s also a limited edition yellow colour coupled with golden rims; it is based on the 552X and costs Rs 16,000 more. For a similar price, there are more mainstream offerings from Japanese brands, such as the Honda NX500 E-Clutch (Rs 7.44 lakh) and Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 8.63 lakh), although the Kawasaki commands a significant premium.

All prices are ex-showroom.
